Free Linux Iso Images Downloads

my copy of windows xp is overrun with viruses, linux?

yo, i’m trying to replace unusable windows with non virus compatible lunux, but i’m finding that dificult. i downloaded wubi and tryed each buntu, and only xubuntu seemed to work, but not well. i don’t know how to put an iso image onto a disk, i don’t even know what kind of disk. and, if i delete hard drive c first, will that help the installation at all?

i need help here, how could something free like ubuntu have highter system requirements than an 80 dollar os like xp.

i have 25gb free on my 37gb hard drive with 248 mb of ram.

again, i have tried ubuntu, xubuntu, kubuntu, mythbuntu, and none of them work.

help me….
well, i tried to run ubuntu with a cd that i got through the mail too, i don’t know what went wrong but the live cd didn’t work, neither did the wubi install.

is there anything that will work guarenteed, because once my hard dive is deleted, only linux can bring it back.

what about debian, i heard that works on weak machines…

You have to make a boot CD of the Linux ISO first. Then boot the CD and I would let the Ubuntu install delete all partitions (use entire disk). That will clean xp out totally, and just install Ubuntu.

You don’t say what kind of system you have. I’ve run Ubuntu on a 450Mhz PIII/512kb RAM, with no major issues (a bit slow, but ok)

If a PC can run XP, it can run Ubuntu. However, if you can, try to add a bit or memory. Even for XP, 248Mb is a bit low… memory helps the most on low level machines.
